CONTRACTORS CE 
Beginning July 1, 2010, contractors with a commercial endorsement will be required to have completed continuing education (CE) at the time of their license renewal. (For example: If the renewal date for a commercial contractor’s CCB license is July 2, 2010, that contractor must have completed the required number of CE in order to renew the license.

Contractors having both endorsements must fulfill the requirements established for the residential continuing education requirement and the commercial requirement. The hours taken for the residential obligation will apply towards the commercial obligation.

Residential
Unless exempt, residential contractors must complete 16 hours of continuing education during the two year license period as follows:

  • Eight hours must be in mandatory subject areas (Core); and
  • Eight hours are discretionary (Electives).

 
Contractors can choose electives that are construction related, that the contractor determines is important for their business. 
 
Residential Limited Contractors
Contractors endorsed as a Residential Limited Contractor (RLC) are required to complete the Core hours only. They are not required to complete the elective hours.
 
Exempted Contractors
Exempted contractors (except Residential Developers) must complete the following (see "Are there any exemptions" below) :

  • Three hours in mandatory subject area of CCB Laws, Regulations and Business Practices; and
  • Thirteen hours of electives.
